The interview went well this morning. The people I spoke with hit me with a lot of questions and seemed to enjoy my answers. They were very positive. I found out that this was just Round 1 of the interview process, and I have to wait a few days to find out if I made it to Round 2. :D

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] spikes_evilbint, [livejournal.com profile] deborahw37, and [livejournal.com profile] dorians_kitten for the loverly snowflake cookies. *hugs all around*

On top of gifty wonderfulness, I have an interview on Thursday that makes me very happy. It's one of the first jobs I applied for when I first moved to Atlanta, and it's definitely the one that I've wanted to have the most. *squees*

I got a job today. I'm doing stocking/inventory at Richard's Variety Store. They called me in for my interview this morning, and then they called me back a few hours later and told me to come in and start working. I worked about five hours today, and I work from 10AM to 8PM tomorrow. It's a little more than minimum wage, but I'll probably be working more than 40 hours a week (I get time and a half for overtime). I'm also on the schedule for Friday, but I have to wait to find out if I'm on schedule for the weekend.

The Great Atlanta Job Hunt of 2009 is not over, but I'll keep what I've got until something more graphic design-related comes along. I like the people at the store; they're quirky and fun. The store sells tons of novelties like Jesus action figures and prank items and Punching Nun vs. Satan puppets. Love it! :D

Got my hopes up yet again this afternoon. Got contacted about interviewing for a really sweet job and was really excited about the opportunity... until I did more research about it and found it was just a five month contract (so they never have to pay you benefits) to work from home for one of those less than reputable graphic design sweatshop scams. ;_; My heart is officially crushed.

Put in a lot of resumes, made some calls, sent a crazy-ton of e-mails over the past few days and nothing. I'm still on the search. I have the fear that by the time I actually get a positive call-back I'll be so desperate that I'll accept a job that I cannot live off of. Looks like rent is going to be at least $550-650 a month by what my calling of all the local property people tell me. I need to make at least $9 an hour on a full-time schedule to be able to cover rent, amenities, and make my loan payments every month, and the jobs that are hiring aren't paying anywhere near that. O__o;;; I'm going to be buried underneath a mountain of credit card debt before I'm 25, I can see it now.

I got into Atlanta at about midnight last night. I didn't get much sleep, but I feel better this morning. The job search is on!
