I got a job today. I'm doing stocking/inventory at Richard's Variety Store. They called me in for my interview this morning, and then they called me back a few hours later and told me to come in and start working. I worked about five hours today, and I work from 10AM to 8PM tomorrow. It's a little more than minimum wage, but I'll probably be working more than 40 hours a week (I get time and a half for overtime). I'm also on the schedule for Friday, but I have to wait to find out if I'm on schedule for the weekend.

The Great Atlanta Job Hunt of 2009 is not over, but I'll keep what I've got until something more graphic design-related comes along. I like the people at the store; they're quirky and fun. The store sells tons of novelties like Jesus action figures and prank items and Punching Nun vs. Satan puppets. Love it! :D

Thanks! I feel a bit of relief now that I'll have at least a little money coming in. Maybe now I'll get back to work on my fics now that I'm de-stressed. XD

Yay! Congratulations! The place sounds a bit like Archie McPhee's.

Totally! It's got a lot of Archie McPhee-esque stuff. :D It's fun to kind of wander the store and look at it all. I'm totally buying Henry VIII and Elizabeth I action figures. XD

I am SO happy and excited for you! Sounds like you've got a great team of co-workers, and that's wonderful. I'll bet their jaws will hit the floor if you tell them about the insane job you just left. XD

The store owner asked me about my last job and I calmly explained to her very briefly about what happened- that my previous employer did not understand copyright/licensing and that they thought by letting me go that they could do whatever they wanted, which they could but the legal problems they're causing will not go away. She really seemed to understand that (she's got a PhD in engineering and was recently let go from her job, so I feel like she's a kindred spirit in that way).

I do, however, need to buy shoes with better soles 'cause I'll be on my feet all day. XD

She sounds like a terrific boss as well as a terrific person. Now I'm more thrilled for you than ever! {hug}

It's always good to keep busy and a salary never hurts.

Hope something in your field comes up soon.
