I can't get on the internets much because I am borrowing Ta-ra-ra's internet and computer for the time being, and I feel so behind! The interview went well the other day, and I should hear something definitive back from the Center next week. The Director of the Center is actually looking into some points of historical interest near my hometown and he really seemed to take note of my computer/design skills, so that might give me an edge over the other applicants. *crosses fingers*
I saw Fright Night yesterday, and I spent the whole time feeling like I was watching someone's really poor attempt to make a Buffy episode... and then the end credits rolled, and I realized why...
'Cause Marti effing Noxon wrote the screenplay. I nearly fell asleep four times at the beginning of the movie until David Tennant showed up, and even his talents weren't enough to save this picture. I felt like I had spent $5 for a joke about Chili's and to watch David Tennant vigorously rub his crotch in tight leather trousers. That was pretty much the only good moments of the film. Colin Farrell was dreadful. The movie didn't create any kind of suspense, and the "quippy" dialogue truly felt like the worst Joss Whedon impersonation you've ever heard. I would recommend that people just go watch the original Fright Night instead. I felt like in having Brewster a "reformed nerd" they lost a lot of opportunities for clever and campy references. We got several Dracula mentions, a Twilight joke, and a Buffy reference. That's it. This film just lacked fun. I didn't care about the characters, and there was nothing to draw me in.
Also, I saw the 2D version, and I have to say that the moments that were obviously meant for 3D were just weak as hell. You pay several dollars more for maybe four to five effects. Ridiculous. And the ending song was just off-putting.
Classes start in a few days, and I'm nervous. I already have the assignment that I'll be working on all semester for one class, and I'm having some problems with it. Maybe things will turn around.

Mm. What an image! And I can't say I am surprised that Fright Night sucked. It reminds me of those cheesy movies on the Sci-Fi channel.
And Good Luck with school.
