I'm taking the GRE on Wednesday. I'm nervous because I have horrendous test anxiety. I've been this way since I was a little kid having to take those god-awful TCAP whatever-they-are-called-in-other-states tests in grade school. Also, the only way I could take the test (besides waiting until October) was to agree to a computer-based test, and I'm freaking out that my eyes will glaze over or that they'll want me to use the dinky calculator on the computer instead of a real T-83 graphing calculator. *frets*

I'm trying to take things one at a time since I decided to go back to school to get my Masters followed by a PhD. I can't even download a bloody application for any graduate school until they update them in September (not to mention the fact that only one state that neighbours mine offers a PhD program in Art History). GRE first, applications later. I'm going to take a few practice tests tomorrow to get ready.

I've been taking GRE practice tests all day using the free study prep software from the official ETS site... It has not been reassuring. I don't know how they expect people to do some of the math portions without a calculator. I mean, a lot of it is common knowledge stuff, but the graphing gets me every time especially when the drawings aren't to scale to begin with. If you don't have a scale on a graph how is one to tell if one line is meant to represent 233,000 when it looks like it could represent anywhere from 200,001 to 250,000? They better give me a lot of scratch paper. Sigh, I just want to get it over with.
