I actually yelled "Get off my Kool-Aid!" outloud in the LRC yesterday while reading the IDW forums about the new Angel Season 6 comics they are doing. People need to leave Spike alone and stop trying to pair him with Buffy anymore. It didn't work, will never work, and I am fully aware that is my own opinion and everyone else is entitled to their own. Not only that, but realistically Spike is an IDW property now, Buffy is a DarkHorse property. Face it, Buffy ain't coming to BlondieBear's rescue. Why should she? So she can give him the Cookie Dough speech? She would have to because she can't stay in the IDW comics forever (she has to return to her own horribly done S8 comics back at Dark Horse and IDW sure as hell isn't giving Spike to DarkHorse as the Spike comics are their biggest sellers at the moment).
Spike and Angel should just be left alone... to each other... in a villa in the South of France... or in Spike's ancestrial home of Kent in Northern England... They could have a pony named Emmie. And what's wrong with giving Spike a comic book girlfriend? Nothing as far as I can tell. If you don't like it, then you don't have to accept the comics as canon (even though they are because Joss said so but you don't have to accept that). I want Spike to be happy and that's not going to happen with Buffy. When has she ever made anyone happy? Unless you count that Ian (was that his name) from S1 from Never Kill a Boy on the First Date. I would accept Spangel, Spangelus, Spred/Spillyria, Speck, Spandrew, Sprusilla, Sparla, Sporne, Sponnor, Spunn, Spara, anything other than Spuffy... or anything involving the core four or Dawn... because that frightens me a little. You know what would be great? Spilliam. It's perfect. Then no one would argue over who should be with Spike. Just pair him with himself. That'd be wonderful.
ETA: The comics are continuations of the series. Not a retcon. Retcon would be going back to time periods before the final seasons and changing things that were shown on screen. Telling the stories of what happened after the NFA and Chosen are not retcon. Get it right if you are going to complain about it. This is directed towards no one on my friends list. It is directed towards idiots on the IDW forums.

I'm getting a bit peeved by some people on the forum saying that comics don't give you emotional attachments to the characters. I mean, if it were impossible to get attached to comic book characters, would Superman or Spiderman or Batman have been around as long as they have? People are also saying that it's not the same without the actors, but I think it can be. They're characters for Pete's sake. What about all these comic book movies? X-Men, for example, didn't get a movie for thirty years after the comics began. They are still iconic and capable of a huge fanbase with emotional connections to its readers without actors having to portray the characters. *flails* Sorry, I'm rambling again!
Enjoy the comics! *hugs*

I like them! I get frustrated with the shortness of them, which is why the big book compilations are good for me :)
AGAIN. THANK YOU.

I'm waiting on one of those really classy hardback editions of all the Gambit comics. That would be so awesome. I've got a pristine issue #2 of X-Men that I keep locked up tight in a fire-proof cabinet. I'm gonna sell it when I graduate from university in another year and a half and pay off my student loans. Haha! ^_^

Hubby bought a bunch of the X-men books - we found a huge sale at one point. I devoured them all!
