I just realized that Bill Willingham, writer of the first half of the god-awful Angel: Immortality for Dummies comic series, also wrote "erotica" comics... with plots that circled around mother/daughter threeways involving a Catholic bishop... and no woman can ever enjoy sex... and men are disgusting, filthy pig-dogs... Suddenly the whole "Spike is now an amnesiac man-slut" plotline totally makes sense now... and I wish it didn't... My brain hurts.

I've figured out that Willingham is like an internet troll with his comics- he deliberately makes things horrible just to see how far he can push his seemingly unshakeable fanbase. O_o;;; He and Whedon must have a tea party one of these days.

Hehe, and Huehner and Tipton hilariously thought that giving Spike "soul-flu" amnesia would somehow make it better once Willingham took off because he was being "stifled" by the fans. Spike wasn't the only one to suffer at his hands though. Angel got written out of his own book, Connor turned into a doormat, and Gunn suddenly had no human emotion. And somehow that was all supposed to be fixed by heart-print boxershorts... It's like a comedy... if comedy meant tragedy.

Yeah, tragic if it weren't so bloody predictable. IDW probably thought getting Willingham to write for them was quite a coup.

I've never understood what was so special about Willingham. It always seemed to me that people liked him because of his Fables series and were willing to overlook that every other thing he did was pure horribleness. I never enjoyed Fables, so I never got the draw, but it appears that Willingham is only capable of writing the same original characters over and over again. "What's this? Spike? I'm too lazy to look at his actual characterization. I'll just substitute the characteristics of one of the characters I've already written. I'm sure that's how Spike actually behaves anyway, and if it isn't, then what I'm doing is better."
