I am stuck in a slump and have total writer's block for the three fics I was working on. Anyone have any advice or anything? I'm really desperate to get on with these fics. It's like I know what I want to have happen, but the dialogue is halting my progress.

I feel your pain. I tried writing some fan fic and froze because I wasn't sure I f I could the character voices right.

For some reason, it's just easier to write down smut.

So, do you have like a general outline of what's in store for the characters or you just writing as it comes to you?

I've got a general outline, but it only goes so far. I think I'm scared of writing something that messes up the end but I can't quite figure out how everything is going to work. It's driving me mad! XD

When I'm in a writing slump, sometimes it helps if I read someone else's fic that I really, really love; it perks me up, puts me in the mood to write, gives me ideas -- particularly if it's the same characters or pairing that I'm writing about, too. [livejournal.com profile] kats_meow's Spred fics, for instance, usually do the trick beautifully!

Thanks. I'm just trying to soldier through, I guess. I've really lost my muse for these fics.

What's the inspiration for these fics? Is there anything that helps get you in the writing mood?

I find music helps me imagine my story, often times it plays out in my head and I'm running to type it down fast enough.

I have no real answer as I'm so easily blocked myself. What sometimes helps is sparking a meta-discussion. Ideas sometimes come from that.

That and I sometimes re-listen to this:

(It's better and more interesting than its summary makes it sound)

Dream them.

foofy sounding I know, but try it. Just go to bed talking to yourself about the fic then start doing the dialogue then dream it.

If you have pets, yes they will look at you funny but, hey, just tell'em it's artistic process :D

good luck!
