I never imagined what it would be like to finally have a graphic design job. After a single day of work, I'm terrified. So many people wanting so many things (and they all want them RIGHT NOW). VP told me first thing that I had to make invitations and brochures that should have been printed two weeks ago. I now have several posters, banners, catalogs, brochures, signs, and a website to do before next Tuesday. Oh, and I have to drive 45 minutes away every day to take pictures of the latest construction project being done. And to top it off, the IT left after installing my email on my work compy, and it doesn't work. *crawls into hole*

That and a friend of mine has been laid off at 3 separate graphic design firms from this past year due to the economy. She's got more talent for GD than I, and she's now at a call center for the summer to make ends meet. So I've horribly become VERY cautious anymore right now. :/

Job Level: Senior Staff
Field: Graphic Design
Job Functions: Art Direction, Design, Packaging
Description
Are you a results-oriented art director who knows how to generate creative solutions for client needs while keeping business demands in mind? Do you have a knack for conceptual, big-idea thinking? Are you able to communicate your artistic vision to other designers, photographers and illustrators so they can help execute your ideas?
Brady Communications, a growing Pittsburgh marketing communications firm founded in 1981, has a position available for an art director who wants not just a job, but a rewarding career. We need someone who understands the importance of teamwork and communication in generating dramatic results for clients. The ideal candidate will be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once.
Our art director helps to lead the design process for assigned accounts. As a senior member of our firm's creative team, the art director must champion the multiple-concept approach that is part of our philosophy. This position requires the ability to collaborate with account managers, copywriters, production specialists, developers and vendors. Experience with packaging design is a must since a number of our business-to-consumer clients rely on us for this important piece of the marketing mix.

Thanks, but don't worry about me. Jobs are slim, they only last a matter of months anymore, next to none are relatively nearby, nobody responds to my inquiries, and so on. I really don't want to persue talking about this more. It literally just gets me more and more depressed right now.
And I've done graphic design, I don't like it. Especially package design is something I rather not do. There's next to no illustration, period.
