I went on yet another job interview today. I went on one like a week or so ago at the hospital, but it didn't go well. Apparently having a BFA in graphic design means I'm a drug-addicted slacker who only wants to steal medications from helpless patients in the hospital. Oh, and did I mention that I'm a liar too because I said that I could type over 150 words per minute? Yeah, apparently "no one can type that fast." >___<

Anyways, I went on another one for a job as a billing insurance clerk/front desk assistant at a chiropractor's office. I hope it went okay. My mother's best friend and my grandmother are both patients there, and they said that they would "speak" for me. I hate small towns; getting a job is even more so about who you know, and that sucks royally.

I'm just trying to get a job long enough to save up some money for a down-payment on an apartment while I'm looking for permanent employment in a graphic design job.

If I started doing commissions for artwork, would anyone be interested? I'm thinking it would be like $25-$30 for a full 8.5"x11" full colour digital painting depending upon complexity (like I might have to charge more if you wanted like three or more characters in a grouping or if there was a lot of intricacies).

Beast and Fender, if there's a zoo in your area, you might see if their graphics department is hiring. Many zoos have their own in-house graphics department that takes care of all kinds of jobs: exhibit signs, brochures, photography, even exhibit design and maintenance. And you don't necessarily need to know about animals; you learn that on the job!

The Memphis Zoo isn't hiring at the moment, and the only job that the Nashville has requires a degree either in education, zoology, or biology. Thanks for the suggestion though. We also have a lot of museums in the area that I've been checking, but I'm afraid jobs are just scarce.

Your stuff is great! I love your and Travis's birthday invitation- it's so cute!

I just wish I could hurry up and finish my portfolio site so that I could send out more resumes for actually graphic design work. It's sooo close to being finished, but I keep having issues with things in Flash.

Hope the second interview works out better than the first. Stupid hospital people.

Thanks for the support! I'm just very tired of interviewing and not hearing anything. People used to call you back to let you know that the position had been filled; people don't seem to be doing that anymore hardly.
