Buffy has a horrific dream about a giant red pregnancy metaphor egg (the "Seed of Wonder") in a cave setting way back in issues before Fender stopped purchasing the books... or was she really dreaming about the giant ruby from the "Cave of Wonders" from Disney's Aladdin? You decide.

To paraphrase the Genie, "Joss, Joss, he's our man! If he can't do it- GREAT!"

Spoilers for Btvs #36 )

You know, honestly, I make no bones about the fact that I think Chosen's Slayer spell is the worst metaphor in the whole show (with the exception to what exactly vampires were supposed to represent). I think that it shouldn't have been presented as a metaphor if they still felt like doing it. Visually it's all nice, but the practicality of it is laughable. How is showing women having no control over their lives empowering? It's not nice to think about, but I've started to believe that it would have been more nobel if Buffy had accepted the power the Shadow Men offered her even though that whole scene is iffy and creepy and icky. Their sales pitch could have been better- they could have shown her the ubervamps first and then offered her the power instead of chaining her up and trying to rape her with it. O_o;;;

I also realized that I fell into some plot trap with one of my fics (Acceptable Losses) that seems even creepier now that #36 has been revealed. Now I'm going to have to revise some of the chapters that I haven't posted yet to try to get away from the current plot of the comics.

Didn't someone months ago bring up the whole pregnancy space-frakkin' dimensional cherry-popping in reference to the comics? I just want penguins now. Lots and lots of penguins... and some muffins. "Welcome to New Sunnydale. Enjoy your muffins!" seems like an unholy possibility right now. I demand it.

I am reviving my original catchphrase about the comics- "Hope for a fruit basket and soldier on." I just hope the fruit in the basket doesn't come out of Buffy's space-hymen.

Just jumping in on the Livejournal/Twitter/Facebook thing. My Facebook, my Twitter, and my Livejournal are like oil and water and a third unmixable thing. I've turned off the ping-back doodad. Just throwing that out there.

I'm still here. I haven't updated since I first got this journal, but I might be using it more if LJ doesn't stop being so difficult.
