Ironically enough, I was terrified of vampires. Seriously, I was scared to death of vampires. And then I saw "Interview with a Vampire" when I was twelve or so, realized that the most beautiful kind of love of all exists between two naked men, especially if they are eternally gorgeous and have fangs, while I watch, and the rest is history. Now I'm just terrified of zombies and Gremlins. I'm more scared of zombies though. Zombies are jerks.

Me too! Although I'm a bit older than you ("Interview with a Vampire" didn't come out until I was in college"). When I was really young, back in the early 70s, it was definitely vampires (and a few times, aliens) that I worried about when I was trying to sleep at night. Oddly, I wasn't too afraid of any other sort of monsters (but that's probably because my mom was a big fan of B-grade monster movies, so I grew up with them).

The movie came out when I was nine, didn't see it 'til it was on TV when I was 12, I think. XD It's so strange to think that all it takes is to make a monster really pretty to make you more open to new ideas. LOL! I was also really terrified of Freddy Krueger, but now he's my favourite movie monster. I'm such a horror movie junkie now. I even got to meet Robert Englund at DragonCon last year. He was so nice.
... Still scared of zombies though. And I can't watch Gremlins. Ever.
