In this piece, Spike is reveling in the joys of being an in-demand maiko. Preview:

In this piece, Spike is enjoying some lovely mochi odaingo-tachi (sweet paste balls) and mochi usagi-tachi (sweet paste rabbits) along with a nice pot of o-cha (green tea). On the tea tray is a Unazukin, a Japanese toy. In Spike's hair are several Kanzashi, traditional Japanese hair ornaments. The Kanzashi that are depicted are morning glories (symbolic for August, James's birth month) and maple leaves (for November, my birth month).

i really like the kanzashi. you managed to get a lot of detail in there, which is something i tend to lose patience with. very nice.

Thanks so much. ^__^
I wish I could go to Japan. All these years of studying the language and culture, and I feel like it's going to waste. One day, when these damned student loans are paid off, I will go! Until then, I'm just gonna keep drawing vampires in kimonos. XD

it's worth it, even just for a short program. and if you found yourself in a position to do something like JET, you'd get to come over for a year PLUS gainful employment. good moneys. working for an english conversation school is slightly less good moneys, but likewise an opportunity to be here and support yourself at the same time. ::nod::

My university won't let me go on their JET program because I'm not a foreign language major or minor (ignore the fact that our school doesn't even offer Japanese as a major or minor- insert eyeroll here).*cries*

okay, wait wait wait.... (and yes i know i'm responding to something you posted three months ago. shut up. -_-) your university has no connection whatsoever to whether or not you can enter the JET program. the only requirements are that you go through the application process and that you have a degree in your hand by the end of your application year, if you don't have one already. so if you want to go, it's on you... not them.
