I give this issue an A++. Brian Lynch is totally getting that Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.
*Fender's Random Drive-By Thoughts*
* I love Spike saving the little chubby kid. It's still aww-worthy to me.
* Everything is named "Spike" in this brave new world. Jerry's ulcer's named Spike, it's now "Spike time."
* Speaking of "Spike time," that damned duck from Shadow Puppets makes an appearance in the form of a hideous amusement park ride.
* I adore the shot of Spike hugging Fred and then facing Illyria with his inner monologue. "Where even a friendly face... is simply another way to twist the knife."
* Spike takes his leadership role seriously. I feel bad that he jerked Fred away from the kid, but I understand that he's trying to protect everyone, especially Fred. Fred doesn't get what's going on, and if Illyria were to kill the kid, Fred would feel that guilt if she were to find out. In a way, I think he's seeing Drusilla when he sees Fred in this state, how Dru would be so sweet to kids right before snacking on them.
* Spike and Jerry so need to have a girly slap-fight. I mean, for pity's sake, Spike knows what a MASH note is. My whole world is askew!
* Spike looking at Jerry's engagement ring for his girlfriend and thinking "It's not like that with Fred and me" is just heart-breaking.
* No, Spike, you're never supposed to drink Zima. Ever. You're too manly for that.
* The teenagers need to die. Spike getting a taste of his own pestering is funny though.
* Aww, for once Spike is the "alpha male." Good for him.
* I've really missed Franco's ability to draw demons... and demon women. Hell, I've missed Franco's artwork all together.
* I love Dragon trying to light Spike's cigarette. It was precious. I officially ship Spragon. XD
* Franco can and did draw women with varying cup-size. Good for you, Mr. Urru! I'm proud. You don't get that much in most comics today.
* I want a catsuit like Spider and the other Assassin Ladies. Come on, those shoes are fucking kick-ass. You could totally kick someone's heart right out of their chest Street Fighter style with those.
I loved this issue! Brian and Franco forever! *swoons in a heap of love* Prettiest panels were Spike with the slight singeing on his face looking up at the dragon. It was very pretty indeed.

Yeah, it was a great issue. I just love kinda-hard-shell-on-the-outside, gooey-inner-center Spike. That's MY boy. :-)
