After a weekend with my sorority that went far better than could have been expected, I wake up this morning feeling like road kill. I skipped my Digital Illustration class and went back to bed (after checking my email). Then I get up to get ready for Word and Image only to find my Internet is not working. Looks like Senor Compy will once again be spending a few days with the Resnet Helpdesk to get rid of whatever virus that MTSU's crappy security let through this time. You know, if the stupid MTSU computer people would just let me use my own virus protection software, this wouldn't happen. I hate them. Grr.

have you looked into getting a router or will they not let you have one. although, i don't understand why they wouldn't. very effective in not letting viruses onto your computer.

If the router requires software, then mostly they will not let us have it. They will just remove the software without consulting you, which is why I don't have Norton Anti-Virus on my compy anymore.

here is one about like what you need. there is a built in firewall and virus protection. no need to install software. you may want to ask them before you buy it. you don't want to spend the money if they will throw a hissy fit.

My compy is fixed now. However, Josh, the ever-helpful ResNet helpdesk employee, says that I cannot use a router or they would block my Internet access. He says, though, that he doesn't know how it long it would take for them to realize I had the router.

thats crazy. i don't understand why they wouldn't let you.

did they tell you what type of virus you had? perhaps, it isn't one that came from just being connected but from another place. that way you can figure out how your getting them. if you are opening an e-mail or going to a webpage that might be doing it. of course, if you had a router with a built in firewall the virus would reach it and be stopped there.

There was no virus. MTSU's internet service just hates my compy.
