fenderlove: James Marsters with Romeo and Juliet quote over it. (Default)

Certain people in the BtVS fandom will most likely have something to say about this:
On the WE Network tomorrow night, they are going to be having a special on the "Secret Lives of Women." This particular episode will focus on two women who married convicted murderers while they were in prison. They will even be talking to the wife of "The Nightstalker" Richard Ramirez. And I'm sure someone will be bringing up old assumptions about certain fans, who happen to be female, of a certain fictional character, who are "in love with raptists and serial killers"... and I will be sure to ignore all such comments. *salutes* That is all! *goes back to watching The Princess Bride*

Grr, argh. Y'know, I hate to even think about that. Certain people will love that and make sure and bring it up ad nauseaum.
Yay for the Princess Bride.
Did you see the link to the new version of CDS? http://www.fuzzyshark.com
Dad-dratted hackers. grrrr.

What people fail to remember is that women usually don't marry raptists/murderers in prison. That is actually a very rare occurance (Spike's "Women marry 'em all the time" line is a little incorrect). What people hear about is people marrying convicted felons in prison (I say people because men also marry female convicts while they are imcarserated). Also, for the women who do marry murderers, they usually marry men on death row; there's no chance of them getting out and coming over for Sunday brunch. I think some people forget those kinds of things.

Is that were CDS will be hosted from now on?

YOu're absolutely correct on that. I think a lot of the time it's publicity hounds or just plain kooks. Altough I'm sure there's some sincere folks there, too.

It's back again at it's regular place, now, I think. Follow the Fuzzy shark link and then there's another link there if you can't find it. It's been up and down for the past little while and everyone was confused as all get out.

But by that logic, doesn't that make certain people serial killer lovers if they think angel is OMG11111?

From: [identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com

Of course not! */sacarsm* Because that would require logic and unbiasedness!

Spike is Spike. You can't not love him. And Angel was even worse than him, in his prime. It's...Spike.

I always have this thought in my mind about how it doesn't matter what character you're talking about, but rather that writers/producers have the audacity to equate love/fanboying or 'girling for a fictional vampire with real life love for serial killers and/or raptists, which is generalizing in a very demeaning way. If I were an Angel fan and someone said, "Hey, I bet you want to marry a raptist!" I think I'd be more than pissed. Thanks for alienating your fanbase, writers/producters. *le sigh*

Yeah. I always had this gut feeling that Joss Whedon really loathed the Spike character...look at all the sacrificial shit he put him through, and he didn't even end up with Buffy at all.

♥ Richie.... but I'd think he was cute even if he wasnt a crazy killer man! He's the pretty =\

Lauren... don't undermine my point! XD Oh well, you're not a Spike fangirl so it's okay.... And Richie was pretty... Dammit, Lauren!
