Yeah, I saw Hostel III, and I heard spoilers about a certain comic that just came out. Guess which one I think constitutes torture porn? It's Trope City, my bad pennies. I'm not really surprised because I was guessing this would happen since late Season Eight, but good-everloving-night!

Well, Buffy's knocked up with a rape!baby. Aren't you happy? Why aren't you happy? Isn't this just a happy thing?

Fuck that shit. Even if they show a flashback of her fucking whoever at that party to get pregnant where she's consenting, she was still so blotto that I don't believe that truly counts as consent. It's at best a dubious consent!baby.

I think I may be giving up on Acceptable Losses at this point. I don't think I can continue with that plot anymore. I want to finish it, but every time I try to finish the editing, the fucking "canon" material makes a mockery of everything I was trying to do and then I have to do re-writes. I don't know if it's worth it because it hasn't been updating in so long. Maybe I should post it as it is without doing anymore editing to it with typos and all.

I tried; I really did. I stopped reading the comics, but I keep coming across spoilers, and it's just argh. Why? Why did S9 have to feature elements that I was using in my story that make my plot look stupid? Sigh. In my story, Buffy's pregnant via a consensual one-night-stand-with-a-father-she-hasn't-revealed, and she plans on giving the baby to her aunt who lost a chid, but she comes into contact with Spike and Angel and gives the baby to them (or rather to Spike because Angel's all grumpy and "Eff you, I've got a kid" because Connor actually exists in my world). Spike's happy, Angel's happy, the baby's happy, Buffy's... Well, she's not happy because well... she went through something not fun, but she's not insanely depressed.

I keep telling myself that I should just get angry and ignore it, but... it just makes me mostly sad.

I know. It just tears my soul apart, and not in a funny Tommy Wiseau kind of way. *kicks DarkHorse*

To quote Spike "It is bleed'n tragic' isn't it.

Hmm, have you ever read Queen of the Slayers?

From: [identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com

Yes, yes, it is. *sobs* I just want to put Spike and Angel in a little bubble... a little protective bubble where they can shag and be happy and never be bothered by hack comic books ever again!

But it's a metaphor!

I think the crowning moment of WTF is the implication with the line "You're not a girl anymore" and Buffy waking up to find she's pregnant really just sums it all up. Whatthehellever, Whedon.

I go with the "ignore canon" vote. I feel so wonderful about not reading the comics right now.

Indeed, I guess it truly is having sex and making poor life choices that makes a woman a woman and not a girl. I guess I won't be able to vote anymore. *smacks Whedon upside his big potato head*

Canon kills creativity at this point. It really has sucked all the joy out of creating fanworks during the past six months. *crawls under a rock*

I just get upset and hurt. I'm far too emotionally invested, and it's fiction, damn it! Try "La-la-la-la-, not listening, looking, hearing, reading . . ."

No, it's a book by Nancy Holder.

I agree with everyone else: ignore the Buffy comics.

From: [identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com

I am going to have to try harder to ignore everything to do with them, even the spoilers.

From: [identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com

Oh, it's one of the Buffy novels. I only read three or so of those, but that wasn't one of them.

From: [identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com

My brain is full of wtf-ery! I'm going to have to be stronger in my resolve to stop reading anything at all to do with the comics.

From: [identity profile] ericadawn16.livejournal.com

Well, this was written before the comic version of season 8 so...

It was supposed to be season 8 aka what Buffy was up to during the last season of Angel. At the very end, Buffy is unconscious and is visited by Whistler. Whistler shows her the battle raging in LA and she cries over the very real prospect of Angel and Spike dying again.

Then, she's met in her dream/out of body experience by Angel and Spike and they have a threesome. From this mystical threesome, Buffy becomes pregnant and because it was a mystical threesome, the daughter will resemble all three parents.

Buffy wakes up and wins the battle on her end. Then, she's all happy about the baby and it ends.

I've heard of that one! Oh, dear Lord... Also, I'd be horrified of a child that resembled all three of them. I'm picturing Buffy's nose, Angel's brow, and Spike's cheekbones. These things do not go together! XD

Your life will be so much happier once you just cherry-pick the parts of canon that appeal, and ignore the ones that are stupid. I call it "editing," Joss Weadon could have used more of it.

Also, it still amazes me that JW considers himself a feminist. I think he needs to learn the difference between exploitative comic book geek fantasies about hawt girls kicking arse and actual feminism.

It boggles the brain, doesn't it? I officially renounce canon and substitute my own!
