I discovered the little gem known as Microsoft Movie Maker, and I made my first (totally solo) music video. I decided to do something really simple, so I chose to do a Sex Pistols tribute, since I've been in a Pistols kind of mood today. I just took still captures of my dear little punk-buddies and set them to "The Origin of Love" from the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack. I made the vid all neat by fiddling with the awesome "old film" feature on the video effects section of movie maker. I think my video is quite nice, except for the fact that it is now 33.2 MB of space. How in the world did that happen? The stills and music aren't even a fourth of that amount of space. I guess it was the special effects.
Anyways, I was just curious (because I've always been on the creative/planning process of music video making and have never actually made a video), how do you shrink the size down to like 10 MB? Just zipping it won't make it that small, will it? Also, once I shrink it to a small enough file size, where should I pick to host it? I mean, there's like those file-sharing places for music videos, like photobucket but for vids?
I'd really like to hear what people think about it, and no one can do that if they can't watch it. I'm actually very proud of myself. It only took me three hours to make, and it has a coherent storyline of the rise and eventual fall of the Sex Pistols, but with an optimistic ending. Also, I heart Sid and Johnny. They're so cute and schmoopy together with the kissing and the hugging and the gay jokes. Just adorable. Yeah, now I'm filled with slashy-punk-goodness... and I've been watching Hedwig and Velvet Goldmine all day... because I also figured out how to do screencaps on normal dvds. Though, I still can't figure out how to do screencaps with the InterActual Player. My Hedwig DVD will only play with the InterActual Player, which is a lot different than WinX which let me screencap with ease. Grr to that.
