Well, my 7AM Saturday class was cancelled because it is raining ice and sleet here. The roads are really dangerous right now. Well, it's great that I don't have class, but I had to get up at 5:50 AM and was already dressed before my prof emailed us at 6:10. My God... I hope I can go back to sleep now.
This is the second time class has been cancelled due to snow, which means that out of the four weeks that class has been in session I've only had this class twice. O.o;;;

fenderlove: James Marsters with Romeo and Juliet quote over it. (Default)

That silly Starfighters website has removed James Marsters from their "Decimus" page. It says "Updated Cast Picture Coming Soon" or something. I suppose Jimmy just wasn't good enough to make it onto such an amazing show with such a talented cast. I'm sure he's just devestated about not making it onto "Romans in Space."
*time to history!geek out*
Ya know, if you're going to make a show based on the Roman system of republicanism, you should really do more homework about how said system was actually set up. Also, Romans had names that were very specific with rules of conduct about how to address one another. A Roman citizen (a free man) has three parts to his name, usually. First, is the praenomen. The praenomen is your personal name, which is what your family would call you, which you usually inherited from your father if you were the eldest son. There are only about 11 praenomen that could be used. Next is the nomen, which is your family name. Finally is the cognomen, which is used to distinguish different members of the family who might have similar names. The cognomen describes some feature of the first person to have that name (it may not always hold true as it is passed through the family). Example: Marcus Tullius Cicero (praenomen, nomen, cognomen). If you say that a character is part of the Praetorian guard, then he should be called by his nomen or cognomen. Therefore, if James's character is named Decimus, which is a praenomen, he would not be called Praetorian Decimus. He would be called Praetorian *insert nomen/family name*.
Dear fake producters of a crappy fake show,
Do your fucking homework, you lazy lying bastards.
Love,
Your lord and master, Fenderlove... and all the history geeks of the world.
P.S. Choke on a fasces, you scumbag.
