I highly reccommend John Lydon's autobiography, "Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs", to anyone, not just those who enjoy punk rock nostalgia. This book is superbly written and offers keen insight into human nature. The words just flow so beautifully. Evil burlesque, indeed. Also, the title of the book is not meant to be racist (I thought an explaination is needed since many people have gotten offended just by looking at the cover while I was reading it). The "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs" part is something that was often written on British tenament housing and boarding houses in the 60s and 70s. Johnny takes offense to this, seeing how he is Irish. It sets the whole tone of the early portions of the book which describe the lives of his parents, his early childhood, and the social climate of England. Really, go read this book. If you have to order from Target.com or Amazon, do it. You won't be disappointed. I'd rather read Lydon's work over Locke or Machiavelli any day. Isn't that amazing? Machiavelli and Locke contradict themselves and offer no proof of their assumptions besides historical data and hair-brained speculation, but Johnny Rotten writes a book that uses astute observations and historical references and makes more sense than Locke and Machiavelli combined. He's a writer of the people. Go, read, and learn.
Since I'm on a British-kick, I thought I'd post this (I found it on Voodoo's LJ):

Jolly good, wot! Anyone for tennis? That'll be ten ponies, guv. You're the epitome of everything that is english. Yey :) Hoist that Union Jack!
