Unemployed and Depressed.

Guess who no longer has a job? That's right! Me! Got fired this afternoon, but do you want to know what really grates me? They waited until 5PM today to do it just as I was walking out the door. Just had to put my soul through one last full day of torment, didn't they? It was so nonchalant that it really pissed me off. Apparently, I wasn't a good "fit" with the company. And to top it off, due to the way in which they have classified my termination, I will not be able to collect unemployment. Way to be true winners at life right there. They have the audacity to say that my performance was "unsatisfactory" when I worked my ass off for them, changed things over and over again on every little fucking whim they had. I worked over 200 bloody hours of unpaid overtime in six months! WTF?! I'm totally going to bundle up the ugly company shirts in a bag and stuff them in the mailbox outside the office. Screw them to the rafters, I say. I'm less angry now and more disappointed than I was earlier. At least I'll get to sleep in later tomorrow, but somehow I doubt I'll be sleeping at all tonight.

On the good side you don't have to put up with their shit.

Btw, if you've got dirt on them, send it to their competitors, you have nothing to lose.

You could sue them for the overtime.

Also, report them to your better business bureau and red flag them on every malpractice they do.

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I tried contacting the Department of Labor because they deal with overtime claims, but they couldn't help me. I am going to contact the BBB about some of the unscrupulous practices they've got going on though.

Thanks! :D

[identity profile] deborahw37.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh that's awful! I'm so sorry

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
After mulling it over for 24 hours, it's probably for the best. I'm totally going to the Better Business Bureau about some of the ridiculousness and the Feds about some of the tax/government grant fraud that was/is going on. I'm evil, but they deserve it for depriving deserving business of government funds.

*hugs*

You know, they way they handled that suggests to me that that is their normal way of handling employees. They get all that work done cheaply (for them) and then they dump you.

Screw 'em, you're better than that.

[identity profile] txvoodoo.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup - this is what I was thinking.

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
They needed a scapegoat, and now they have one. They used the woman who had the job before me as a scapegoat as well (of course that was after they drove her into a nervous breakdown).

*hugs*

[identity profile] txvoodoo.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs back*

And this adds a new question you can ask at an interview: "What happened to the person who had this job before me?" ;)

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, I'll definitely be asking that from now on. The poor girl who came before me was hired to do solo marketing but they tried to make her into a graphic designer, but they didn't give her any programs or provide any kind of training, which wound up driving her close to mad.

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)

Speaking from experience, being unemployed blows chunks! On the good side, you no longer have to deal with their bullshit!

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, I've got some magic up my sleeve for them though. And you know what's so funny? I was actually going to bring in two clients to purchase houses in a few weeks. Guess they won't be getting that business! XD

[identity profile] emac66.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh sweetie....that's terrible! Well, you are most likely better off and I'm sure something better will come your way. I don't get how that termination doesn't allow for unemployment, adn is there some way of tracking your overtime hours. . If you have records of that, the very least you can do is complain to the BBB. Let other out there know how they work and what they do to their employees. If you have those OT records and non payment, surely you can do something about that?
I have a friend in Germany going through much the same thing. things will look up for you I know it. In the meantime, have a good sleep in today, and terrific cup of coffee and gain a new perspective.

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get how that termination doesn't allow for unemployment,
It's because my termination was classified as "unsatisfactory performance" which means they are accusing me of not performing my job at all, which means that the unemployment office is unlikely to want to give me my rightful money. However, I was on the phone today with the unemployment office and they told me that I could appeal and that if it was well-written then I could get unemployment benefits. However again, they are not currently paying unemployment for the time I was working (they are only paying for January through March 2009, and won't be paying for the time I have worked for at least four more months).

is there some way of tracking your overtime hours.
I kept track of my overtime hours, but the company kept no official records of overtime because they don't want to pay it. They actually got very angry when they found out I was keeping track of my time.

*hugs* I feel freer and somewhat happier not being there definitely, but I just don't want the reason they are claiming for my termination to keep me from getting another job.

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Another problem with that termination is that they have to PROVE that your work was unsatisfactuary for the company, ad as far as unpaid overtime... that's agenst the law. They can NOT do that. Its probably why they got upset at you for doing it, and probably another reason you were let go.

*hugs* Keep up on the unemployment office. :)

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, they can make it look anyway they want. They've got a few ditzy cows who work there who have taken credit for my work in the past and, if it meant keeping their jobs, they'd tell everyone who'd listen that they'd done everything even if they don't know how to use any of the programs or anything. I can always appeal but as I said in response to your other comment, by the time they actually start paying for the period I was working, I'll already have another job and won't see a dime of unemployment.

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So pretty much, you were screwed over like I was. I'm really REALLY sorry about that. I know how that is. Had it done to me twice. I actully got fired from one of my jobs because my manager didn't believe that women should work, and I was the only woman there. I couldn't apply for unemployment at all because I was only there 2 months and 29 days, not the full 3 months that the state required at the time. My other one... that's a screwed up mess, but I know how it is to be screwed over at a job like that.

Congrats on the new job though! You're doing better then me. lol.

[identity profile] nonothrthnme.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
SUE!!

Sue their evil fucking asses off. That's wrongful dismissal babes and you should be recompensed for your time and the overtime... There is that little matter of the illegal activities they wanted you to engage in. Sick the Copyright police on them.

Grrrrr

Fuckers

OTOH, maybe you should have a warm cup of tea, a nice hot bath, and read some porn...

FUCK that just makes me angry >:I

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I've got a few things I'm looking into at the moment, definitely.

*hugs*

[identity profile] nonothrthnme.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
ooo ooooo hhooooo

*rubs hands ebilly for you* srsly tho, that is just ridiculous *crosses fingers for your other job applications too*

[identity profile] havesomecocoa.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT THE FUCK!? I'm soooo sorry! I'm happy you're free though. They were killing your soul! HUGS FOREVER!!! You were too good for that shit. They dont deserve you. Seriously. I'm not just saying that. I've believed that since you started working for those low budget bitches!

Also, this firing seems shady. They cant just get rid of you without good, documented reason. You should look into it. I'm gonna ask my mom what you should do!

ALSO, report them to the FCC for lying about their leed certification! Kick them in the nuts!

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely, definitely. You should think about seeking fun times in Atlanta with me! :D We could live Laverne and Shirley style. :D

[identity profile] spikes-evilbint.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry to hear that. *hugs*

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs* Thanks. :D

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so sorry!! *hugs*
You know, they can classify your termination any way they want, you should still apply for unemployment and tell them everything that happened with the unpaid over time and how you worked really hard and that they now claim that you don't. That's what I did, and I kept calling the unemployment office and talking to them and at first they were not going to give me unemployment and I called them and explained what happened and then they gave me my unemployment. You should ALWAYS apply and at least try, you know.
Good luck on it. And I am very sorry you lost your job.

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I've talked to the unemployment office, and they told me that even if my former employer didn't challenge my bid for unemployment, I'm not eligible because they are not currently paying for the time I was employed. They are only giving out unemployment for the last few months of 2008 and January through March 2009, and by the time they are paying for mine, I'll already have a new job probably and then won't be eligible anyway.

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes no sence at all. How does that work? just to weird. I guess every state is differnet, but I thought they all worked about the same.
I'm sorry dear. *hugs*

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs* It's because they just don't have the money to pay for everyone at once, so they're having to stagger the unemployment back a few months. Like, for instance, I would have to remain unemployed for four more months before I will be eligible to collect. I wouldn't make it four months without a job, so I guess that's what they're hoping- that the fear of going totally broke will urge people to really ferociously seek another job. However, around here, there are no jobs to be had, which is why I'm heading out of state this coming Friday to hopefully find a better situation.

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, its why we moved 994 miles from Phoenix, Az to Fort Collins, Co. There is a company up here that David and I are going to go into tomorrow morning to get a job. They are hiring 500 new people, so we'll at least have a job. Only issue is that it's a call center, but it's inbound only, which is good. :)
A job is a job right now. ;)

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish you all the best luck! I'm hoping that Georgia will offer me more chance to find a job than Tennessee.

[identity profile] anyagotr.livejournal.com 2009-10-04 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Gosh I hope so! I wish you all the luck in the world and do NOT give up. :)

[identity profile] beastwith5hands.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
ugh that sucks. that is what my former bosses said after i quit, that i was doing a horrible job and they were going to fire me anyway even though i worked my ass off for nothing. ugh.

both of our next jobs are going to be awesome. and perfect. they just have to be!

[identity profile] fenderlove.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ex-bosses suck so hard-core. They had the audacity today to try to contact me to find out where some files were located. Even if I knew where they were, like hell I'd tell them!

I'm leaving for Atlanta on Friday to look for greener pastures. :D
