Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Days 2 through Day 6.
My brain is a squirrel's nest of crazy right now, and I totally forgot about this.

Day 2: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
1.
kidcyclone's Nocturne. Angelus/William. H/c. Probably not worksafe.
2.
lilithbint's A Steampunk Love Affair. Spike/Fred. Worksafe.
3. Hedgehogbeeblebrox's Buffyverse artwork. Mostly worksafe.
Day 3: Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before. Afterwards, leave a comment in this post with the equivalent of "I did it!"
It doesn't have to be anything complex - it can be feedback for a fanwork or discussing something you might have in common or even simply admiring their icon. The point is to reach out to someone you normally wouldn't and connect with them, even if it's only for the briefest moment.
Done! :D
Day 4: Introduce yourself to someone you admire and friend/follow them on whatever platform you use - journal or Twitter or Tumblr or whatever.
Done! :D
Day 5: In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I really love horror movies. I mean, I've talked about my love of horror movies on my LJ before, but I really love them lots. From the silent, black and white era to shot-on-shiteo to the present day torture fests, I will watch pretty much anything in the horror genre, even if I just wind up laughing at it or being disgusted by it. I have to say that I find great interest in exploitation films, such as the work of Bruno Mattei ("Caligula and Messalina," "SS Girls," "Violence in a Women's Prison"). A lot of horror and exploitations films tell us more about cultural attitudes of the time periods and countries they were made in than the more mainstream works. There's a lot of subverting anti-feminist tropes while at the same time feeding into those tropes. Like a lot of Whedon works, they subvert the subverted, and the message becomes extremely muddled and probably not what the writer/director intended. Nightmare on Elm Street II, anyone? XD The last horror film I watched was an Italian cannibal exploitation flick called "Cannibal Ferox." It was pretty gruesome (and loathsome).
Day 6: In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) and that you ended up loving.
1.
whichclothes's Memento Mori: Hominem Te Memento. Mostly worksafe, save a later chapter or two. Spike/Xander. I don't like Xander as a character as far as the show goes, but when WhichClothes writes him, I do like him. More than that, when WhichClothes writes him, I don't mind Spander as a pairing. In fact, I like the pairing in her stories. :D
2.
lilithbint's Getting Spike Back (Part of the Bedroom Games series). Not worksafe. Spike/Xander/Giles. As I mentioned above, I'm not a huge Xander fan, and to be honest, I'm not a Giles fan either, but when Lilith wrote this menage-a-trois, I like it just fine. :D
3.
sueworld2003's Spank. Not worksafe. Spike/Wesley. I love this manip beyond the telling of it, and as with all of these creations I've picked, it's because I don't normally care for the pairing. Truthfully, as a staunch-in-my-ways sort of fan, it takes a lot to get me interested in a pairing I don't like, especially if I don't care a lot about the other half of the pair, and so my hats off to Sue, indeed! :D
And now back to cleaning and reorganizing! XD
