The Princess and the Frog.

I went to go see TPATF today, and I loved it. Absolutely and completely. The animation made my heart soar after years of waiting for something even remotely close to how wonderful this movie was. Some of the movements of the characters seemed a bit quick (can something be too fluid?), but I don't think it deterred from the movie as a whole. From the commercials I thought that Raymond the Firefly was going to be annoying, but he turned out to be quite endearing. Also, I am Lotte. XD

Dear Disney,
Now that you've seen the light and begun to rebuild your animation team, I have one request of you. Please contact Mr. Steve Himber. I need James Marsters to voice a Disney prince before I die. Please, please, please! I swear on the cryogenically-frozen head of Walt Disney, I'd give my left hand for the merchandise alone!
Love,
Fender

Aaah! That's because they are big characters. What you're seeing is a lot of follow through to a: make them jiggle, which is over exagerated from what you see in real life because copying the movement of a big person in real life actually looks stiff as a cartoon and b: they speed up their movements to keep them from being too sluggish. Snappy movements, more chuck jonesish than disney, seems to be a style for big characters (except for Ursula when she's under the water) in order to keep them more lively. My animation teacher actually loves animating big people most, so we've heard a lot about it haha.

Aaah yes, I thought the lips/mouths were great... a big favorite of mine was Mama Odie, but that's just Andreas Deja for you... he's a legend! I'm so excited, apparently both Deja and Glen Keane are coming to do guest lectures next semester... ohhohoho!!! I will be in the presence of greats!

speaking of animating big characters, my film character is a big guy... I should be practicing instead of loafing around in bed all break.
