That's exactly why I just kind of wince at all the pro-Spuffy stuff you see around. People, he just spent 3 years crapping on a plate in front of you, now he's telling you it's chocolate. Don't do it! He doesn't care about ships and that's fair enough, but the way they treat the fanbase is obscene.
There is a small part of me that thinks S9 will be "better". For one, it'd take serious work to be worse. For two, and this actually bugs me a bit, issue 40 is so blatantly a fan-appeaser it's not funny. All the little clarifications of things that fans hated or didn't make sense or were unclear. I was sensitive to it 'cause I was complaining about a lot of it. Buffy changing the word 'mistakes' to 'actions'. I distinctly remember ranting about doing something you know is wrong not being a mistake. The clarification of just what the betrayal was, again in a sidebar that is clearly Joss talking. Getting rid of Kennedy, sidelining Dawn, Buffy making it clear the Xander crap is done with, Spike's clarification of the Twilight crap.
But? It's too freaking late. Trying to build anything after that crap is like building on sand.
