For my own purposes, completely out of my own curiosity, I wanted to take a quick look at how Spike's been portrayed in comics, using only titles in which he is the titular character because we'd have to get waaaaay too much into how other characters are portrayed otherwise. Honestly, between all of S8 and the Armstrong-Willingham arcs, there would be too much to say. On the chopping block, we have...

In this corner, we have... )

ETA: Excuse any spelling errors. I am very tired. XD

ETA: Thanks to Double Duchess for reminding me of an online comic and another vignette that I missed! :D

Ten points to Slytherin if someone can get me a scan of a specific page/panel from the new Angel: Yearbook.

And now... spoilers...

Cut for spoilers about the page I want to see. )

After reading the dialogue preview on IDW's forum, I had to laugh at something very hard in how it relates to S8.

There be spoilers. )

Big squishy hugs to my f-list. I love you all and you manage to bring brightness to my weary world.

I saw a few others doing this, so I thought I'd join in the fun. :D

I did some fanart of Brian Lynch's characters from his comic strip The Most (found here on his blog). Here's the British versions of Wetsuit Andy, Oblate, and Block Party featured in this particular strip.

Title: Kingyo-Sukui.
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] fenderlove
Rating: G
Summary: Since Jeanty sorta got an art piece from me, I thought I whip up something for Brian Lynch. Kingyo-sukui is Japanese for goldfish scooping, which is an activity at many fairs and festivals where children can catch goldfish to keep as pets. I got the idea in my head of Spike, Beck, and Betta George go to visit Tok in Japan, and they all get dressed up in fancy kimonos to go to a summer festival. I imagined that Tok's little sister Kaori might try her hand at kingyo-sukui, but that would probably make George a little sad, so they decide to let the little fish free in a pond... and then it turns out that what they thought was a plain old goldfish was actually a sparkly teeny baby Splendeen demon! I'm calling him Betta Kin.
I'm totally writing fic to go with this... and just to note, this is the first time I've drawn Spike in a men's kimono. Normally I draw him in a furisode. XD

After reading [livejournal.com profile] angearia's post with both the Whedon and Petrie versions of Beneath You, I had some thoughts. You ever have one of those days where you wish that you could have seen how James Marsters would have played Doug Petrie's version of Beneath You? I've had a bunch of those days over the last decade. I bet he would have played the hell out of it. It would have been epic.

Rambling about why I dislike the BY that aired, Spike, William, and Brian Lynch... and a snippet of fic? WTF? )

Okay, I did this comic in like literally 10 minutes in Illustrator, so it's kinda crappy, but I had to get it out of my system. In this little ditty, Spike and Brian Lynch have a discussion about some of recent decisions for how he's going to be utilized in certain comics (spoilers for S8/S9... sorta). I apologize for drawing it in Scooby Doo style. XD

After all, how does Spike feel about all this brouhaha? Click here to read the comic! )
